"Confirmation is a public rite of the church preceded by a period of instruction designed to help baptized Christians identify with the life and mission of the Christian community..Prior to admission to the Lord's Supper, it is necessary to be instructed in the Christian faith (1 Cor. 11:28). The rite of confirmation provides an opportunity for the individual Christian, relying on God's promises given in Holy Baptism, to make a personal public confession of the faith and lifelong pledge of fidelity to Christ." [Luther's Small Catechism with Explanation (St. Louis: Concordia Publishing House, 1991), 245].
Catechumens are instructed in basic Biblical knowledge and the Six Chief Articles of Luther's Small Catechism: The Ten Commandments; Holy Baptism; The Creed; The Office of the Keys; The Lord's Prayer; The Lord's Supper. Following instruction and examination, catechumens are received into communicant membership by the Rite of Confirmation. Currently, junior catechetical instruction is two years long, beginning at 7th grade. Adult catechetical instruction for those wishing to become congregation members varies, dependent on individual circumstances.
A special Seder Meal is held each year for the confirmands and their families.
Our minimum age requirement is 7th grade, but anybody can go through Confirmation. Give us a call or send us a message to ask how you can get started.
A.C.T. members made and delivered Easter baskets as a service project.
A.C.T. Youth Group (grades 6-12) meets monthly on the first Wednesday of the month at 7pm. They also have various fellowship events (such as bonfires, game nights, tubing trips) throughout the year. They also have a dunk tank at the annual community summer festival, "Deer Trail Days." Along with their fellowship events A.C.T. participates in servant events such as providing Easter baskets to shut-ins. Recently six of our youth and two counselors attended the National Youth Gathering in New Orleans, LA. Please contact the church for more information about our youth group!
